February 3 is the Feast Day of St. Blaise. Saint Blaise was a physician and the bishop of Sebastea in Armenia. During his lifetime, St. Blaise was known to be a healer. People often turned to St. Blaise for healing miracles. In 316 AD, St. Blaise was arrested for being a Christian. On his way to prison, he cured a child who was chocking to death on a fish bone. But because St. Blaise would not renounce his faith, he was beaten and his flesh torn with iron combs before he was beheaded. St. Blaise is venerated as a saint and martyr by the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. His feast day is February 3. Mass wll be offered on the feast day of St. Blaise at 12 noon, followed by the blessing of throats.

Prayer: Grant us, O Lord, that through the intercession of the martyr St. Blaise, we may live this life in safety and attain eternal happiness. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
