Jesus is the Son of God
As we get to know our friends better, we tell each other stories about ourselves and we may also make promises to each other.
The Bible tells us many stories about special promises that God made with His people. These promises are called covenants. God loved the people, so He promised them that He would send someone who will save them from their sins, and who will help them to live in friendship with God and with one another. We believe that God kept His promises by sending His one and only Son to us. Jesus is the Son of God, but He was born a man so that He can be both God and man.
In the Bible, the birth of Jesus was told in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. Jesus’ mother, Mary and His foster father, Joseph travelled to Bethlehem where Jesus was born in a stable. During Christmas we celebrate Jesus’ birth and we thank God for sending us His Son.
During Jesus’ life on earth He did things that showed God’s love for us. One example can be found in all four Gospels: the Gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. It is the miracle where Jesus fed over five thousand people. The people came to hear Jesus speak and they brought many sick people to Jesus so that He could heal them. When evening came, they became very hungry. But the disciples only had five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus looked to heaven, blessed the food and told His disciples to distribute the food to the people. It was a miracle, because the food multiplied and there was enough to feed everyone. Jesus taught the people how much God loves and cares for us. We believe what Jesus taught us. We believe God loves us and is always with us.
