National Vocation Awareness Week, celebrated November 6-12, 2022 is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations. National Vocation Awareness Week began in 1976 when the U. S. bishops designated the 28th Sunday of the year for its observance. Beginning in 2014, National Vocation Awareness Week was moved to the first full week of November.
Since our establishment in November 2015, the Holy Name of Jesus Chinese Catholic Mission had its first vocation in Sister Thiennga Nguyen. She entered the Monastery of the Visitation of Holy Mary in Snellville in 2018 and she will take her final vows to the consecrated life on March 19, 2022. She now lives a monastic and contemplative life with the other sisters at the Visitation Monastery. Sister Thiennga prays for our parish each and every day.
Our second vocation is Mr. Andrew Shen, who was admitted to the Diaconate Formation of the Archdiocese of Atlanta in January 2022. Andrew and his wife Angela have been parishioners of the Holy Name of Jesus Chinese Catholic Mission since its inception. Both are active in promoting evangelization within the community.
Let us offer our prayers for continued vocations in our small parish community where the grace of God is at work each day!
